This robe is so classic! A heavy robe to keep you warm on cold Colorado nights and days! I am 5'6" and the length is perfect. The arm length and pocket height is also just right. The chenille fabric is soft to the touch and reminds me of my old childhood bedspread. I have not washed it yet... but I am sure that fabric softener would only enhance the softness. Only con is that the zipper does not open the robe fully... and you have to step into the robe. I have found that with my arthritis it is just as easy to pull the robe over my head already zipped up. I bought the cream with the pink rose accents... it is so feminine and attractive on. Plenty of room for nightgowns and/or pj's underneath.
I love the vintage look of the robe. I bought it two years ago and have pretty much worn it out. It's so cozy, not to warm, just perfect. I would have given it 5 stars but the fabric has worn where the arms have rubbed against. I'm back for my second one!
I love wearing a robe when I'm just relaxing. This chenille robe is so pretty, warm and soft. The size feels true to size if you aren't used to something stretchy. There is no give in it. I ordered a 1X which I usually wear but without any give it wouldn't even zip. Size up if you purchase one.The color is nice, very subdued, not a blinding light color but a creamy ivory. i wish I'd bought the blue one too.
It is nice for the price but room for improvements.
I like the look of this robe but the fact that it has a zipper that doesn't separate from the rest of the rope means you have to either put it on over your head or step into it to get it on. Well the outside is very soft and Utiful the inside could use some work it is quite apparent that in order to save money they did not line the inside with the same soft fabric
I got this in dark blue. This robe is warm and really pretty. It's comfortable, plenty long and I want to love it more than I do. The only issue is the insane pilling on the INSIDE. It makes GIANT pills that fall off all over the house. I'm constantly sweeping up robe pills. It's nuts. I tried washing, but no help. It does wash well, no shrinkage. And the outside looks great all the time. It's just all the inside pill mess that's a problem. I did finally turn it inside out and mowed it to death with a sweater shaver. I hope that helps, but I don't know yet.
I expected this robe to be flimsy and shed because it's chenille. WoW, was I wrong! It is not only beautiful and very well made, it fits perfectly and NO SHEDDING! Can be worn immediately after receiving, no washing necessary. It is so warm and wonderful to wear in these cold winter evenings. It will last for many years to come.
I read the reviews that stated others felt it was small. I debated about going up a size as I have broad shoulders. I stuck with my usual 18/20, but I wouldn't want to be much bigger as I don't know that the item would fit. I don't think it pulls across the shoulders but there is not extra room if I was wearing bulky pajamas underneath. I bought the blue robe, I love the contrast with the flowers. The length is perfect, I'm 5'6". The inside of the robe is not super soft but I don't mind putting it on after a shower, I don't find it to be rough.
needed a new robe. love chenille in a robe but this robe is a step in. and has hip side pockets. both negative on points for me. Step in, you have to pull your gown back down. Should have bought a size up. Not thrilled with those things. over all its alright. wouldn't buy it 2x. wouldn't recommend it unless you like the step in hassle and buy a size up for comfort. just not thrilled.
This robe is very cozy and if you are cold this robe is awesome. Since I live in a colder area this robe works out well in the winter. This is not a light weight robe, but I have several different robes for other seasons. This one is just the ticket for a very cold December - February type of robe.
It's comfortable and warm, but don't like the hassle of having to step in and then pull the night gown down after it's up and on. Would not buy again, guess I prefer the belted ones, but love the fabric and design. I would recommend but with the comment about stepping in instead of wrapping around.
BEFORE WASHING IT WAS SOFTER THEN AFTER. THE OUTSIDE IS STILL PRETTY SOFT, BUT THE INSIDE IS VERY SCRATCHY AND THE LINES FROM THE CORDING ARE EXTREMELY OBVIOUS AND UNCOMFORTABLE ON MY VERY SENSITIVE SKIN. A ROBE SHOULD BE JUST AS SOFT OR SOFTER ON THE INSIDE ( NEXT TO THE SKIN) THAN ON THE OUTSIDE, WHERE IT CAN'T EVEN BE FELT. WEARING IT INSIDE OUT IS MY BEST OPTION, AS RETURNING IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT 30.OO DOLLARS AND ABOUT A MONTH IN WASTED WAITING FOR THE RETURN TO GET BACK ONTO MY CARD.
I ordered not one, but two of these robes, 2 sizes ABOVE my normal size as I wanted them to be loose so they could be used over pajamas and be comfortable. Both robes are so tight through the shoulders that I cannot wear. They are also way too short. I order quite frequently and this is the first time I've been royally disappointed. Instead of sending them back, I gave them away but if the sizing problems continue, I will quit purchasing from this site.
I read the other reviews and purchased this robe over the other chenille robes listed. I'm glad I did purchase this one. I am very pleased with the quality, it's thick enough to wear alone and feel very comfortable to lounge in. I was hesitant to know which size to order since I'm at the larger end of the size range. I found the size to still be roomy even at the upper end. Initially I ordered the larger size and ended up keeping that one and ordering the smaller size too!! The quality is fantastic, it's been a long time since I've had a chenille robe.
I wear a size 22 and I ordered the 1X. It is a perfect fit. I liked the appearance of the ivory, but ordered the navy because I am prone to spilling coffee. I wear this every morning while I drink coffee. I bought it to replace a quilted snap coat. This stays closed a lot better and keeps my legs warm. It took a few days to get used to stepping into my robe, but it is easy now.
I've wanted a chenille robe like this for ever. I found it after an online search, without knowing Roman's was a plus-size merchant. I ordered it in a L, and it was far too big. I wanted the robe so badly, I took a chance and exchanged it for a M which fits this 5'3" 155 lb. woman perfectly. Glad I decided against just returning it. And the price? An unbelievable value!
Beautiful but go one size up! especially if your tall
This chenille robe is absolutely beautiful and worth the price, but go one size up,especially if your over 5.7.I usually wear a 3xl or 30/32 and its plenty big if not a little oversized for me from this site. However I wish I would have sized up on this one I am 5.9 and the arms were a little short for me and tight in the shoulders and arms, otherwise I just wish I went up 1 size. Its too late for me to exchange so I will keep it and try stretching it out.I love it otherwise.
I put it on first thing in the morning when I get up. Great with that first cup of coffee on a cold winter morning. The only thing I would change about it is that I would like 3/4 or a little shorter sleeves, but this is just my personal preference. This robe has the wide-wale chenille so popular in 1940s and 50s. I love this robe and I would buy this robe again.
Lucious! Glamorous! Cozy. Fit for a Queen! Love, Love, Love
The last Chenille Robe used regularly lasted over 20 years. When I saw this robe, I knew I wanted it! Very expensive for a frugal buyer but continuous shopping left me empty & so, I splurged... I must say, I like everything about it and buying this robe with coupon discounts made it very affordable. It is the prettiest warmest snugglyiest gift I've ever given to myself... I am in love!
Wish it had been longer. I prefer a wrap around. This one zips and you have to step into it, which with my bad knees wasn't really easy. Too bad that I had to pay for shipping and the return shipping too, and shipping is high.
The material is so retro. My Mom had bedspreads like this robe material which were very long lasting (many, many washings and many years). The robe is warm and fits well. Haven't laundered it yet, but hope it lives up to the chenille of the 40s and 50s.
