Inconsistent Sizing--No Two Shirts the Same
from Tampa Bay, FL
Comments about Roamans Women's Plus Size ""Kate"" Shirt:
My biggest complaint about Roaman's is the inconsistency in sizing They have some really cute things but it is always a guessing game when trying to decide what size to order. Even sizing between the different colors of the same product is way off. This "Kate" shirt is a prime example. I ordered two "Kate" shirts (same size) in two different colors, the Deep Orchid print and the solid Sage. The fit between the two shirts could not be more different. Apparently, another recent reviewer reported the same thing so my experience wasn't just a fluke. The Deep Orchid print was quite roomy, almost on the verge of being too large but, conversely, it was short in length, especially since the side curve of the shirttail hem is cut so high. (It absolutely is not as long as it appears on the models.) I'm only 5' 5" so when I feel something is short, it most certainly will feel really short to taller women. The upper portion of the sleeves was generous enough (good for those of us with larger upper arms) but the sleeve length would have probably been too short for many women. My arms are somewhat short and the sleeves on most long-sleeved shirts are too long for me but this shirt was just about the perfect sleeve length. If anything, the sleeves were a tiny bit short when I bent my arms. However, since I always wear my long-sleeved shirts rolled to 3/4 length anyway, sleeve length is rarely a concern or deal-breaker for me. Although I would have preferred this shirt to be at least 2 inches longer in length, I love the colors enough I will keep it. (Note: After washing and drying, the length of the shirt shrunk about 1/2 inch, making it now 27.5 inches. I didn't perceive any shrinking in the sleeve length, or in the width, which is the area I had hoped would shrink just a little. (I will likely take it in about a 1/2 inch on each side.) I took it out of the dryer while it was still damp to minimize wrinkling but it will still require ironing, which I don't mind but some customers surely will.) On the other hand, the solid Sage shirt fit NOTHING like the Deep Orchid print. It was much longer and at first I thought, "Oh good! Perfect length to wear with leggings!" but as soon as I got it on and started to button it up, I realized it was also much more narrow through the body -- too narrow for my liking, especially since I didn't know if it would shrink at all during the first wash. The upper sleeve was also tight. Nope, not going to work. Sadly, it's going back and I'm contemplating whether to just return it for a refund or try to exchange it for one size larger but again, with sizing all over the place, I can't help but wonder if the larger size will be too big). So here's the measurement comparison of the two "Kate" shirts I got:Sleeve length (shoulder seam to edge of cuff) was approximately 24 inches on both shirts.Length from neck seam to hem (center back): Deep Orchid print--28 inches (27.5 inches after washing). Solid Sage--30 inchesSide seam to side seam (across the front): Deep Orchid print--28 inches. Solid Sage--26 inchesAssuming there is also the same 2 inch difference in the seam-to-seam measurement across the back (I didn't take the back measurement), that would make the solid sage shirt 4 inches smaller through the body than the Deep Orchid print. For two shirts that are supposedly the same style and size, that's a BIG difference! With so much variation in sizing, even between the same items, consulting the size chart is worthless and it becomes sheer luck of the draw whether what you order will fit. So frustrating. Roaman's take note: I am one customer that would be willing to pay a little more (the full price rather than waiting for the deeply discounted sale price) if the sizing/quality of your items were better.

About Me Casual Dresser
I bought several Kate shirts as basic shirts to wear under jackets for the fall. I find that the upper arms tend to be tight on me if I order my regular size. I also cold water wash them and hang them to dry to be sure that they don't tighten up anymore.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Bought 2 Fit great. That is until after they were washed. After ironing and ironing and still could not get the wrinkles out, I thought will wear them to grocery store but when I put one on it had shrunk so much that the sleeves were tight and it was too small around the chest. I got one wear out of each of them. I would not recommend/

I ordered two in different colors. One was several inches shorter than the other and way too big. The other longer one was a bit too small. No consistency in sizing! Also, they wrinkle very easily.
About Me Classic Dresser
I thought this was just a plain big shirt. It was not.It was small although I wear a 2x and 2x here is true to size...this one was not. It has a gathering in the center back that pulls in the shirt and sleeves feel tight. Also makes an already fat woman look pregnant. Not flattering at all. i am using it for house cleaning or gardening... unbuttoned..on top of a tshirt.

A Different "Kate" Shirt
As a fan of the Kate big shirts, I have worn this style for years. This one, however, is not the same shirt. The cut of the shirt makes it feel larger than usual and shorter than usual. The fabric is also not wrinkle-proof, where previous versions of the shirt were very easy care. I would think twice before ordering another of these shirts, even though I like the patterns and colors.

Shirt would have been perfect if it wasn't cut small in the shoulders and upper arm area.

Love it, fits nice, looks great, have received a lot of compliments on the blouse.
Love the print
from Cary, n. Carolina
Would prefer cotton/polyester fabric.
Don;t like the new version of the Kate shirt
I like my shirts long to cover up my abdomen. The last one I ordered was much shorter than the others I have in my closet. It was returned.
from Millville DE
nice for casual wear only I always order one size larger as I find these shirts to more "fitting" than I prefer. I like a Big Shirt to be loose.
I keep ordering this shirt because I love it.
Please offer pockets sometimes. Also does it ever come with short sleeves, the color black or another material that would not have pet hair stick to it so easily???? Other than that PLEASE DON"T CHANGE THE STYLE OR SHAPE OF THIS MY FAVORITE SHIRT!!!!

I have been buying the "Kate" shirt for many years. I have it in many colors and patterns. I recently bought it in sage. The shirts I have previously bought and wear regularly are made of cotton and polyester. I get then professionally laundered and pressed with light starch and they hold up nicely. This one is 100% cotton, it didn't even look wrinkle free after being laundered and pressed (and it shrunk) and it was wrinkly as soon as I put it on -- like linen. I can't return it because I have washed it and worn it, but I won't wear it again, or spend money to have it laundered only to have it be extremely wrinkled. If all the shirts are now going to be 100% cotton, I won't be buying them anymore.

Will order more!

Love the color but it comes out of the dryer horribly wrinkled.
Way way too small and I ordered one size bigger because I like my shirts loose. I felt very smashed and tight in this shirt, sleeve ends were tight on my arm . Returning items.
I LOVE this shirt!! I think I just bought my twelfth one.
The Only thing I would like to see is a replica made with a different material. One that would "slide" over my hip area. Also repel animal fur. I love the cotton but would hope it can be made of another material ALSO!!
Great addition to everyday wardrobe
from Ishpeming MI
This blouse has a full bodice, plenty of room to cross arms and move freely. Perfect for an everyday outing, but very light weight material.
It's a nice white shirt, but just that....a white shirt

very good fit and wears comfortably
It came packaged as a wrinkled mess. It was difficult to iron after being washed on gentle. It could not be worn at all upon arrival. Poor quality

It was a nice shirt until it shrank. We washed carefully and followed instructions.

I just love this shirt. It fits great and will be nice on colder days. Can't wait to wear it. Hope to get a couple more.
I like the poly/cotton blend better
from Reno, NV
I have purchased 8 of these shirts over the last few years. The style and materials has changed. The first ones I bought had shirring at the shoulders and were poly/cotton blend. Loved them! Since then I have bought some that were without shirring and 100% cotton. The all cotton are terrible for wrinkles and I hardly wear them. I like the shirring better but don't mind the ones without shirring as long as they are poly/cotton blend.

Would not purchase again
Wrinkles to easy, material to thin, to small, longer in front than the back, forced to keep it as I would not get full refund and have to pay shipping, will not buy from this store!
This is my second Kate Shirt. I love them and will have more in the future. They fit well, a flattering fit, and feel so comfortable. They are great~Angel
Wrong material listed
The description says that the solid colors are cotton and polyester but the solid color I received was 100% cotton. Of course, I didn't notice this until I had washed it and it came out of the dryer extremely wrinkled. Also, I can't return it because I washed it. I thought this was the same blouse I had bought in the last few years and really liked, but it is not. Definitely false description for the solid colors. I don't iron so I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew the description online was wrong.
